F.C. VALHALLA (formerly F.C. Cock n Bull) is a proud member of the Los Angeles Premier League. Since the team’s inception in 2006, we have steadily improved in skill and standing. Our first two seasons were spent near the basement of the table, but after some cunning recruiting, lots of training and an attitude shift, Valhalla finished 4th at the end of LAPL Season XII and narrowly lost in the final of the postseason (the Charlie Weaver Cup). Our unreached goals remain the same: win the regular season, win the cup – die with bruise on shin, beer in hand, smile on face.
“Uneasy lies ahead that wears a crown….”
UPDATE: After another succesful campaign in LAPL XIV in which the Vikings finished 3rd, hopes were high entering the playoff tournament as Valhalla had laid waste to top seeds Dinamo (5-nil), Coyotes (5-4), Avanti (5-3) and Hollywood United (5-3) in the final weeks of the regualr season. A shaky performance against Dinamo in the second round saw Odins Boys advance on table position but it served to re-energize the team for the fight against Avanti in the semi finals. In a match dubbed “the best of the year” by referee Alex Gorin, Valhalla blanked their arch rivals 2-nil…this was a fight for the ages and anyone involved will remember it for a long while. Meeting the #4 seed Coyotes in the final, the Vikes seemed possessed, particularly Mike Cowan who imposed his will on the Argentine defense, scoring a hat trick
Victory was indeed sweet and everyone had a smile on their faces at Sonny Macleans. Well done lads, but there’s one thing still on the list:
WIN THE REGULAR SEASON.
And so we continue…
